About DeGromiest

Indonesisch Cultureel Centrum Groningen (ICCG)

DeGromiest, or Indonesisch Cultureel Centrum Groningen (ICCG), was established in 2000 and has become the most prominent Indonesian community in the northern Netherlands. More than 300 active members comprise students, diaspora, expatriates, and Indonesian descendants.

DeGromiest has been renting an existing hall or room for its activities, which needs to be improved to meet the community’s growing needs. A permanent space will provide a dedicated and inclusive space for community gatherings, educational and cultural activities, and worship contributing to the overall well-being of the Indonesian community in Groningen.

Our Activities

From Lectures to Family Fun: Activities to Enrich Our Community Life.

Indonesian Cultural Activities

Here we also celebrate Indonesian culture and empowers its community. We offer a variety of activities for all ages, from traditional dance and cooking classes to sports and women’s empowerment forums. Through these activities, the program aims to preserve heritage, foster social connection, and promote well-being.

Kids And Youth Activities

We offer a variety of activities for children and youth. From learning the Quran and its stories to exploring science through experiments and getting active outdoors, this program aims to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where kids can develop their interests and connect with their community.

Islamic Worship Services

We cater to the Islamic faith and community. We provide a variety of services to meet religious needs, from congregational Friday prayers to educational classes on Quran recitation and Islamic studies. We also celebrate Islamic holidays and offer guidance on life events like conversions and funerals. Overall, the program fosters a sense of community and supports members in their religious practice.

Zakat, Infaq, And Sadaqah

We offer opportunities to fulfill the Islamic principles of charitable giving. Zakat, a mandatory form of alms, has specific rules and recipients. Infaq and Sadaqah, on the other hand, are voluntary acts of charity motivated by the desire for spiritual rewards. To support these practices, DeGromiest collaborates with Galiro, a dedicated organization that channels resources to assist underprivileged communities, particularly in Indonesia.
